Mahogony Keepsake Box

For years I stored special keepsakes in a haphazard way, I’m almost ashamed to admit in a series of shoe boxes. With two kids, the rate at which I accumulate those special keepsakes has increased over time, so when we had a lull in our project schedule, I asked Asa to make a small box of drawers to store my most precious objects: Father’s Day cards from my kids; menus from special dinners with my wife; tickets from special events the whole family attended; etc. Yep. I’m a sap.

This box is the result of that request. Made from mahogany I’d been holding onto for years, waiting for the right project, this little box is sized to sit on a countertop. Mahogony is an unusual choice for us; we make most of our furniture and wooden goods from walnut. With our usual brass accents, this turned out beautifully.
